    Detailed Information

    PRESENTING ILLNESS:

    A 35-year-old male patient presented with a history of giddiness, imbalance while walking, and speech difficulty. He was diagnosed to be having Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 1 last year. Initial Diagnosis/management is being done in consultation with neurologist Dr. Vinod Arora. He was seen at AIIMS Delhi too in Dec 2023. Conservative / Medical management is going on. He & his wife wish to go for stem cell therapy for his problem (Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 1).

    PAST MEDICAL HISTORY:

    Not a known hypertensive or diabetic

    FAMILY HISTORY:

    Positive. sister has SCA

    PLAN OF ACTION:

    Stem cell therapy

    OPERATION UNDERTAKEN / PROCEDURE:

    Stem cells were infused through Intrathecal, Intravenous, and Intramuscular routes.

    IN THE COURSE OF HOSPITAL AND COMPLICATION IF ANY:

    The patient was clinically examined and thoroughly investigated and informed written consent taken. He was taken to OT for a Stem cell procedure. The patient was given I/v fluid and other supportive medication during the hospital stay. Dietary Consultation, Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech therapy, and Psychologist Consultation was during the course of stay in the hospital. Post-procedure was uneventful (no headache, vomiting ).At the time of discharge, he is clinically stable.
